The South African superstar took over Gold Reef City on Sunday, 16 August, for a special A*POP fan day, giving fans a day filled with music, rides, pink food and plenty of Y2K-inspired fun.
The event was created to celebrate her latest album, but it felt like much more than a traditional promotional event. Gold Reef City was transformed into a colourful A*POP experience, with pink-themed details, photo opportunities, face painting and even pink burgers and pizza.
And Tyla wasn’t just there to watch the fun from the sidelines.
The singer jumped on some of Gold Reef City’s iconic rides, giving fans a glimpse of her having fun like any other Joburger. Videos from the day showed her taking on the attractions, adding an unexpectedly playful touch to an already memorable homecoming.
Her fans, known as the Tygers, were also treated to a live performance. Around 1 000 fans secured tickets through Instagram and TikTok challenges, creating a very personal celebration between the singer and the people who have supported her from the beginning.
